Marlborough, New Zealand
Isabel Pinot Noir is our latest red wine discovery from New Zealand, estate-grown and estate-bottled. Isabel Estate is nestled into the heart of the Wairau Valley in Marlborough, situated at the top of the South Island of New Zealand. Isabel Estate is not only one of the largest family-owned vineyards in Marlborough, it also has some of the oldest vines in Marlborough, producing exceptional-quality wines. Proprietors Michael & Robyn Tiller and their four children currently work in the family-owned vineyard. Following sustainable vineyard practices, the Isabel philosophy on working the land is simple: “Respect the soil where the grapes grow and allow the unique characters of each vineyard and variety to be expressed in the final wine.” We just call it a wine gem!
Isabel Pinot Noir is a robust Pinot Noir, dark medium garnet in color, with elegant primary fruit characters--ripe plums, strawberry and cranberry as well as chocolate and spiced notes with balanced oak. It is a voluptuous wine with enticing aromas and alluring depth; a full-bodied wine with structure, complexity and beautiful mouth feel. The wine was aged for 10 months in French oak barrels, 20% new. Already charming in its youth, this wine will continue to evolve with age. The finish is long and smooth, showing the unique minerality of its terroir.
Enjoy Isabel Pinot Noir over the next 3-4 years with roast pork, rack of lamb, grilled salmon, ratatouille and aged cheeses.
