Sonoma Coast, California

Wine Advocate 90 points!

MacRostie Chardonnay is a beautiful white wine gem from the Sonoma Coast region. MacRostie Winery and Vineyards was founded by winemaker Steve MacRostie in 1987. As an innovative winemaker pioneering a sophisticated style of Chardonnay, Steve dedicated himself to crafting wines embodying an authentic sense of place. MacRostie’s Chardonnays were soon widely hailed for their unique balance of cool-climate structure and bright Carneros fruit. The grapes for this Chardonnay came from several exceptional Sonoma Coast vineyards: Sangiacomo and Hi Vista in the Carneros region; some amazing Russian River Valley properties owned by the renowned Dutton and Martinelli families; and Steve MacRostie’s own Wildcat Mountain Vineyard. Selected for their cool climates and unique growing conditions, these vineyards lend distinct and complex characteristics to this Sonoma Coast Chardonnay.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown calls this vintage “real Chardonnay class at a bargain price. It opens with notes of grapefruit, peaches and cream and honeyed toast with a touch of pineapple. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is purely fruited with a lovely suggestion of creaminess plus great intensity and length.”—Wine Advocate 90 points!

MacRostie Chardonnay begins with a delicate, fragrant nose of pineapple, mango and guava. On the palate, the tropical fruit elements mingle with lively citrus-lime layers as well as hints of toast and butter from aging in French oak. The finish is clean, refreshing and quickly invites another taste!

Enjoy MacRostie Chardonnay over the next 4-5 years with grilled swordfish, roast chicken, veal, grilled vegetables and cheeses.
