Product Description

Racha, Republic of Georgia

Merani Khvanchkara is a Georgian semi sweet red wine of controlled appellation of origin Khvanchkara. One of the most popular of Georgian wines, it is made in the Khvanchkara district of western Georgia. Of historical significance, Khvanchkara was consumed at the Yalta conference in 1945 by Franklin Roosevelt, Winston Churchill and Josef Stalin. It is now considered a national treasure in the Republic of Georgia.

Merani Khvanchkara is made of two native Georgian grapes, Alexandrouli and Mudzhuretuli. It is ruby in color, medium sweet with lingering notes of raspberry, pomegranate and almond. The wine's natural sweetness is nicely balanced by its acidity.

Enjoy Merani Khvanchkara chilled as an aperitif or as a sweet table wine with meats, soft cheeses, fruit and desserts.
