Domaine Canard Morgon Corcelette is a beautiful expression of Gamay from the excellent 2021 vintage in Beaujolais. Domaine Canard is located in the town of Vauxrenard, just 20 km south of Mâcon and 40 km north of Lyon in the Beaujolais region of Burgundy. Domaine Canard has vineyard sites in Beaujolais-Villages, Morgon, Fleurie, and Crémant de Bourgogne. Domaine Canard is a sixth-generation estate now run by father and son, Marc and Vincent Canard. Vincent enjoyed a storied career as a professional cyclist and in 2015 he returned to the estate to join his father in farming the family vineyards and making wine that truly represents the terroir of the various Crus of Beaujolais. The estate has been certified organic since 2020 and Marc and Vincent farm using biodynamic principles as well. They own 17 hectares of vines with an annual bottle production of approximately 90,000.
Domaine Canard Morgon Corcelette comes from 10-to-60-year-old vines of Gamay grown organically in granite soils in the Morgon Cru of Beaujolais. Vinification is semi-carbonic in whole clusters, stainless and cement tanks fermentation, natural yeasts, minimal sulfur on bottling.
“This is a fresh and zesty Morgon with red cherries, cardamom, chocolate and oranges on the nose. It’s medium-bodied, sleek and easygoing. From organically grown grapes.”—James Suckling, 90 points!
Enjoy Domaine Canard Morgon Corcelette over the next 10-12 years with roast chicken, grilled salmon, roast pork, pasta and Thanksgiving turkey.
