Chateau d’Aiguilhe Cotes de Castillon is a beautiful red wine gem from the excellent 2019 vintage in Bordeaux. The von Neipperg counts are descended from a noble line dating back to the Holy Roman Empire. This family has contributed great soldiers and illustrious diplomats throughout the centuries. Responsible for numerous military exploits, the family’s long history is grounded in their attachment to their land. In fact, the Counts von Neipperg have been making fine wine since the 12th century. Chateau d’Aiguilhe is located on hills overlooking the Right Bank of the Dordogne River, on the border between the Cotes de Castillon and Saint-Emilion appellations. This 110- hectare estate has 50 hectares of vines, which are planted exclusively on the upper part of the hills. 

A terrific effort from this large and immaculately maintained property on the clay-limestone slopes of the Côtes de Castillon, the 2019 d'Aiguilhe exhibits aromas of cherries and cassis mingled with notions of burning embers, licorice and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a mineral finish, it's intelligently matured in tank and large-format oak as well as small barriques.
