Rheinhessen, Germany
St Antony Riesling Rotschiefer is a beautiful dry Riesling from the Rheinhessen of Germany. St. Antony is a wine estate in the Rheinhessen wine-growing region in Germany, that has been making wine since the end of the First World War. The small-scale craft winery is located in Nierstein on the Rhine, and owns around 26 hectares of vineyards. In 2005 Detlev Meyer acquired the estate. Since July 2008 another top Nierstein winery "Heyl zu Herrnsheim", with another 13 hectares, was long time rented by Meyer and merged with St. Antony. The winemaking of both is located now in the former Gustav Adolf Schmitt winery. Since 2019, Dirk Würtz has been managing the wineries as a partner and chief oenologist.
St Antony Riesling Rotschiefer is a complex Riesling with delicate crispness and great balance, grown on unique red clay soil over 280 million years old. Trocken (dry), the wine offers aromas and flavors of apple, stone fruit, and mineral notes. The finish is long and refreshing.
Enjoy St Antony Riesling Rotschiefer over the next 6-8 years with pan-fried trout, grilled shrimp, Asparagus, light summer salads, trout a la Meunière, seafood and as an aperitif on the terrace.
