Description

Ireland Wine Enthusiast 90 points - The dominant aromatic feature is caramel. The palate entry features the cream/dairy element as much as caramel and nuts; the midpalate highlights the cream, the caramel flavoring, the spirit and the gentle spice. Concludes smooth, satiny and properly creamy with greater emphasis on the spice than the caramel..April/2007 Ultimate Beverage Challenge 88 points - Wonderfully rich with the aromas and flavors of roasted nuts, almond butter, toffee, cocoa, vanilla, and sweet cream. A decadent classic..March/2012 Baileys is produced using the best quality ingredients: fresh Irish dairy cream, Irish whiskey and natural flavours. • Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero 2020

Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero 2020

    Ribera del Duero, Spain

Wine Advocate 93 points! Guia Penin 93! Wine Enthusiast 93! Wine Spectator 92!

Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero is a beautiful Spanish red from one of Spain's most highly respected wine regions, Ribera del Duero. Pago de Carraovejas is origin. Starting with its first nine hectares, this project soon became a dream of becoming a benchmark wine cellar in the heart of the Ribera del Duero. It all began over three decades ago, when Pago de Carraovejas was founded in response to a dream by José María Ruiz to create a great wine in one of the areas that had the greatest potential at that time.

“The 2020 Pago de Carraovejas was produced with a blend of 92% Tinto Fino (a.k.a. Tempranillo), 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Merlot. 2020 was a good vintage for them. They harvested earlier (but the wine still has 15% alcohol), all in small boxes and 3,000-kilogram containers, and they are also using 600-liter oak barrels and oak vats for the élevage. It has an expressive nose of ripe berries, sweet spices and some toast and is lush and creamy, with a soft texture. It's powerful in the house style, but there's balance and harmony. They produced some 800,000 bottles.”-Luis Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, 93 points!

Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero has been the flagship wine of this winery for over 30 years. The 2020 vintage was aged for 12 months in French and American oak barrels. Sustainably farmed, hand-harvested, and fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine offers beautiful balance and characteristic ripe black fruit and berry flavors, violet aromatics and subtle spice. It is long and rich on the finish.

Enjoy Pago de Carraovejas Ribera del Duero over the next 8-10 years with roast lamb, pork, paella and aged cheeses.

    Sophenia Synthesis Malbec 2020

    Gualtallary, Uco Valley, Argentina

James Suckling 93 points! Wine Advocate 92 points!

Sophenia Synthesis Malbec is an outstanding red wine gem from Argentina. Finca SOPHENIA is a winery recognized as one of the highest quality wine producers in Argentina. To achieve this goal, its founder Roberto Luka chose Gualtallary, Tupungato, Mendoza, one of the most prestigious regions to produce high quality wines. The result was absolutely gratifying and the wines have already been praised by critics from Europe, America and Asia. The wines started to sell worldwide in 2004 and succeeded in reaching more than 25 countries.

Sophenia Synthesis Malbec offers an intense red color with marked violet notes. A bold aromatic expression, floral notes like violets and lavender, roses, spicy aromas like black pepper combined with ripe red fruits, plums and cherries. Its aging in French oak barrels for 14 months gives it elegant smoky and tobacco aromas combined with mocha notes. In the palate it presents a sweet and generous start, full and concentrated body with a persistent and elegant finish.

“There's a sensation of a little more ripeness in the 2020 Synthesis Malbec, reflecting a warmer year. There are also oak-related aromas and some dusty tannins that might require some more time in bottle after the wine spent 12 months in barrel, 15% of them new. 9,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in May 2021. Finca Sophenia has obtained the organic certification for their vineyards and winery after a transition of three years. They have 130 hectares of vineyards that were planted between 1997 and 1998 on their estate in Gualtallary. They produce 800,000 bottles.”—Luiz Gutierrez, Wine Advocate, 92 points!

Chateau d’Aiguilhe Cotes de Castillon is a beautiful red wine gem from the excellent 2019 vintage in Bordeaux. The von Neipperg counts are descended from a noble line dating back to the Holy Roman Empire. This family has contributed great soldiers and illustrious diplomats throughout the centuries. Responsible for numerous military exploits, the family’s long history is grounded in their attachment to their land. In fact, the Counts von Neipperg have been making fine wine since the 12th century. Chateau d’Aiguilhe is located on hills overlooking the Right Bank of the Dordogne River, on the border between the Cotes de Castillon and Saint-Emilion appellations. This 110- hectare estate has 50 hectares of vines, which are planted exclusively on the upper part of the hills.

A terrific effort from this large and immaculately maintained property on the clay-limestone slopes of the Côtes de Castillon, the 2019 d'Aiguilhe exhibits aromas of cherries and cassis mingled with notions of burning embers, licorice and warm spices. Medium to full-bodied, layered and concentrated, with lively acids, powdery tannins and a mineral finish, it's intelligently matured in tank and large-format oak as well as small barriques. Drink 2021-2039.”—William Kelley, Wine Advocate, 92 points!

“Black cherries, spicy oak, chalky minerality, and hints of white truffle all emerge from the 2019 Château D'Aiguilhe, an elegant, beautifully balanced, seamless 2019 from the Castillon region. It has plenty of ripeness, medium body, present tannins, and the balance and class to keep for 10-15 years.”—Jeb Dunnuck, 92 points!

  • Chateau Romer Sauternes Grand Cru Classé 2019 750ml

Chateau Romer Sauternes Grand Cru Classé 2019 750ml

    Sauternes, Bordeaux, France

Chateau Romer Sauternes Grand Cru Classé is a delicious dessert wine from the most prestigious region for dessert wines—Sauternes. Founded in the 17th century by the Montalier family, sharing its early history with that of Château Romer du Hayot. In 1855, the estate was named Château Romer and was classified as a second growth. In 1911, 12 acres of the estate was sold to Roger Farges, and this land became the current Château Romer, which stayed in the Farges family for the next century. In 2002, Anne Farges restarted winemaking at Château Romer, with the 2002 vintage the first to reappear under the château's own name. The property has since been taken over by Maison François Janoueix, which takes the greatest care in maintaining this vineyard.

Chateau Romer Sauternes is a blend of 90% Semillon, 5% Sauvignon Blanc, and 5% Muscadelle. Only 3.5 ha are currently in production, making just 6,000 bottles annually. Traditional vinification in French oak barrels, followed by aging in barrels for 12 to 18 months. Showing freshness as much as richness, this is a honey-and-lemon flavored wine. While it has weight, the acidity cuts the texture, keeping the richness in balance. For long term aging.

In addition to the classic pairing of Sauternes with foie gras, Chateau Romer Sauternes Grand Cru Classé is great for aperitifs and to finish off meals of white meats, fish, or with pastries. Serve chilled at 51 to 53F.
